Emilia Gonczar graduated from Warsaw University where she completed Psychotherapy Specialisation on Faculty of Psychology. She is also a graduate of Cultural Studies at Warsaw University and a graduate of Langues, Litteratures et Civilisations Etrangeres at Université Sorbonne Paris IV. 

She continued her education in psychoanalytical psychotherapy participating in 4year training at Institute of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy and gained professional experience working at L’Association de Santé Mentale du 13e arrondissement de Paris, Academic Psychotherapy Centre in Warsaw, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Ward at Szpital Nowowiejski in Warsaw and then at Department of Neuroses, Personality and Eating Disorders at Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in Warsaw. She was leading individual and group psychotherapy, trainings and workshops and worked at her PhD research. At the moment she works for Rethink Mental Illness. Along with her work in public sector she sees patients in private practice for long term psychotherapy. 

She is a member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy - BACP registered Member no.374070, Member of Polish Psychiatric Association no.071217 and Member of Polish Psychological Association no.3299.

Psychological counselling- Counselling is targeted at the people who came across temporary problems in their life, which are difficult to deal with on their own, and need to share with somebody who can look at their life in a professional and independent point of view. During the meetings you will be inspired to look at your life in new ways, which were not visible or evident in the past, to set you free and break up repetitive schemes ruling your life. Counselling can support you and provide you with some professional point of view or knowledge about your situation, but contrary to psychotherapy can’t heal you. Session time – 50 minutes.

 

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy – Type of talking therapy which cures. When You have experienced for long years some problems which accumulate within time you need also a much longer time to set a new framework of your life, to re-evaluate your thinking, feelings and beliefs and to gain a new perspective. This form of therapy has a deep and lasting effects. It is based on relationship between the patient and psychotherapist and conscious and unconscious processes between them. It tends to look at experiences from early childhood and see human in a holistic way. Session time – 50 minutes.

Psychological diagnoses– Useful when a psychiatrist is not sure if the behaviour is due to neuron disfunction or reasons in personality features, then the patient can be referred for neuropsychological and personality tests. Psychological diagnoses are also useful to see if a child is ready to start the school or to differentiate personality disorder from ageing processes (dementia processes). Psychologist while testing can verify depression level, parental competency level, ADHD at a child and many other problems, illnesses and disorders. Session time depends on type of diagnosis. 

Relaxation– Sessions based on methods set by Jacobson, Schultz or mindfulness which help to learn relaxation techniques. Relaxation is not easy, you have to learn how to enter to this state of body and mind. Session time – 50minutes.
